Gophers are small herbivores found in North and Central America. Gophers spend most of their time underground and prefer soil with the right amount of clay and water to support their tunnels and borrows.
Although being herbivores, these mammals are not guaranteed to be repelled by Plantskydd Animal Repellent.
Did you know?
Gophers are often mistaken for groundhogs as they create the same kind of damage. Groundhogs also react negatively to the above repellent options mentioned for gophers.
Lawn & crop damage – Gophers prefer lawns and crop fields to burrow due to the amount of food present. Although most of the damage is done underground, they will leave fans of displaced earth above ground. These mounds will be approximately 12”-18” wide and 4”-6” high.
Plant damage – Gophers enjoy a wide range of ornamental plants and vegetables found in your garden. They also are very fond of alfalfa. Damage to noticeable by missing plants and/or dying plants.
Equipment damage – Underground irrigation systems, utility cables, etc. are at risk, as groundhogs may gnaw on lines to file their incisors or to access water. This damage is difficult to access as it’s happening below ground. Gopher mounds may also cause damage to farm equipment as they pass over the mound.
